Memorial Day

We celebrated Memorial Day on Sunday since we were leaving for our next tournament on Monday morning. Since I have been so tuff on Mia, I thought I'd share a sweet memory. As grandpa was fixing the lilacs from our garden for the graves, Mia asked if she could have some for her princess ball. He gave her some and she put them in a plastic sandwich bag. We didn't see her prepare them, but she put water in the baggy and then put them in her purse. When we visited my sister Margo's grave, we noticed that President Hinckley's grave was just across the street. When Mia realized it was her prophet's grave she wanted to give him her ball flowers only she was too shy. Her sweet cousin, Olivia, took her by the hand and helped her give her gift to the prophet. After we went to the other cemeteries , Mia said, " My mom should have been here so she could see how special it felt. My mom needs to feel this special feeling." Here I was worried that the cemetery's might scare the little ones and just the opposite happened. She felt the sacredness of the experience. On another note: After sharing in our cousin Melissa's experience with her surgery and the agony she went thru having receivedthe "dreaded gene", it was touching to see in real life the consequences others who also carried the gene. Margo was 50 when she died and my mother was only 45.

Granny strikes back!!

Yesterday, Mia put her hand under my upper arm. (you know the part that flaps in the wind?) She let go, then grabbed it again, and looked up at me funny and said, "Granny your arm is all soft and squishy." And here I lift 12 pounders 3 times a week. I will have to go to 15. But--I got her back. She wanted Kraft Macaroni and cheese, not the home made kind. So I made her Kraft Macaroni and cheese and added a baked sweet potato in the cheese sauce and she never even knew it!

Out of the mouths of Babes

We have Mia and Nathan this weekend while Joseph took the older boys to Wyoming with him for a tournament and Michelle and Ava went to Nauvoo for her brother's sealing. Today while I was changing, Mia said, "Granny you need to take a shower". I asked her if I was dirty and she said, "Yes, see all those lines on your legs." Those are my spider veins and I earned everyone of them. Thank you very much.

Sjogrens Walkabout

This is a picture of Susanna, Peter and Lily while they were walking in the Sjogrens Walkabout. I was in Florida when they held the race, so they represented me. Lily told me after that they won the race and that they did it for me. I was really touched. An added bonus happened to me on Saturday. I was attending a Sjogrens Patient education seminar. They had a slide show going while we waited for our featured speaker and lo and behold up came this picture. I am in the auditorium and I squeal, "Those are my kids!!" it was just another highlight of how good my children are to me and how good our Heavenly Father is to us. To me it also said that He is aware of me and my battle with this condition that I prefer to call Showgirls Syndrom.
